Executive Branch

The Executive Branch consists of the President, Vice President, and the Presidents Cabinet. The Cabinet members are appointed by the president and confirmed by a majority of the senate. The role of the Executive Branch is to carry out the day to day activities and programs of SGA.

Andre Brousseau, President
President André Brousseau is greatly excited to serve the student body in the 50th SGA Administration. He is a senior music business major, and he enjoys many interests such as outdoor activities, music, meeting new people, and spending time with his friends. André is quite active on campus aside from SGA, as he is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Order of Omega, the ISU Steel Drum Ensemble, and the TOMS Club.

Some of his personal goals include completing his degree and gaining an internship in California with a music industry agency. In terms of SGA, André plans on continuing successful initiatives from former administrations while implementing new ideas and programs that will allow the student body to benefit as much as possible. He also hopes to create more awareness and interest in SGA and to establish a better means of communication throughout the university.

André says that his favorite aspect of Indiana State is the fact that Indiana State is large enough to have so many things going on, yet small enough to where anyone can get involved with what they're interested in without fear of being excluded. He also believes that hard work and courage are essential to everyday life and that everyone has a voice, no matter what.

Brooke Wardle, Vice President
Brooke Wardle is the Vice President of Student Government Association for Indiana State University. She is majoring in communications and minoring in marketing. She has a passion for surfing, painting, food, and Electric Dance music. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Sycamore Ambassadors and is also the Barnes & Noble representative for ISU. Some of the goals Brooke has in life are to live my life through God, have a family, and own her own company. A couple of goals she has for SGA this year are to keep a warm and welcoming environment, and better communication though all the organizations and students on campus. Brooke’s favorite aspect of ISU is how nice everyone is here and how it is hands-on learning environment.

Josh Loudermilk, Chief of Staff

Josh is a senior business management major, who attended Terre Haute North Vigo High School here in Terre Haute.  Since coming to Indiana State as a freshman in 2009, Josh has been involved in multiple organizations both on campus and in the community. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, where he has served in many different leadership positions, done hundreds of hours of community service, and developed his social, professional, and leadership skills.  Through his connections at Alpha Tau Omega, a former Vice President of Student Government at Indiana State, and one of Josh’s fraternity brothers, got him involved with SGA.  Since that time he has served on SGA’s Blue Crew, SGA Senate, and now for the past year and a half, as SGA’s Chief of Staff.  In this capacity, Josh has the privilege of being the right hand man to both President Brousseau and Vice President Wardle, while also getting to serve as the office manager and direct supervisor to the other students that are on staff.  Last year, while serving former President, Nick Utterback, Josh was recognized as the winner of the Bruce S. Clarke Memorial Award for the most outstanding member of Student Government for the year.  This year as the elder statesman in the SGA office, he hopes to help the 50th Administration be one that will always be remembered.

Phil Newbill, Director of Finance
Phil Newbill is an accounting major with a forensic accounting minor.  Phil’s main interests are college sports, mainly football. Outside of SGA, he is involved with the Networks Professional Development Program and is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.  Phil’s personal goal would be making it to graduate school to study law and achieve his MBA.  The reason he chose Indiana State University was because of the size and liked the fact that ISU was not too big, and not too small.

Rachel Leshinsky, Director of Public Relations
Rachel Leshinsky is a senior communications major with a concentration in public relations and a minor in civic leadership. Her interests include playing guitar, writing poetry, finding the best deal on shoes, and finishing my degree. Rachel is also in the Honors Program and is a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and currently holds the Membership Vice President position. If there was such an organization, she would also be a proud member of the children of ISU alumni club. Her personal goal is to build a career for myself around the things I enjoy doing and never regret any of it.
As Director of Public Relations, Rachel’s goal for SGA is to create a positive image for this organization. She is also looking forward to working with other organizations to promote their events and activities alongside Student Media Services. Rachel loves Indiana State because it is completely different than the South Florida environment that she grew up in. The people that live in this area are loveable and the atmosphere isn’t as hectic, and that is why she fell in love with the Midwest, but mostly with Indiana State University.

Matt Copas, Director of Academic Affairs
Matt Copas is a senior insurance and risk management major at the Scott College of Business.  After graduation, Matt will be joining the U.S. Navy and plans to spend 20 years as a Navy Diver. Matt has been held the position of president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and has also been a Sycamore Ambassador.  As Director of Academic Affairs, Matt hopes to help students with any issues they may have throughout the school year.  He also lead the Sycamore Leadership Coalition that is the new freshman leadership program and hopea to have a great first year.  Matt is also looking at possible ways to use technology to improve student learning and get students more engaged in the classroom.  His favorite aspect of ISU is that it is a close community and every time he walks across campus, he runs into someone he knows whether it is a student or an administrator and knows that he can stop and talk to them.

Jacoby Waldron, Director of Campus Life
Jacoby Waldron is a junior communication major and is in love with ISU and everything about. He has been an orientation leader the past two summers and very involved with many organizations on campus. Jacoby is a member of Kappa Alpha Order and plays all the intramural sports that are offered to his team. He was drawn to the Director of Campus Life position because he is so involved on campus he has the opportunity to meet many amazing people. He believes that getting to know many people is key to making positive changes on campus. Some goals Jacoby has this year include getting international students more involved on campus and make programs that he oversees in SGA successful.

Jeremy Butcher, Director of Pride and Traditions
Jeremy Butcher is a senior marketing major and loves to listen to music and watch sports; especially the Sycamores! He is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and holds the title of Critical Skills Officer in that organization.  The positions he had held, in both SGA and ATO, has helped him grow his leadership skills so much and hopes to use these skills someday in a marketing department of a Fortune 100 company. His goal for this year in SGA is to make “The Forest” one of the most successful and supported student sections in the Missouri Valley Conference. What Jeremy loves about ISU is the fact that this campus is growing and is starting to get the feel of a larger campus, but at the same time still has a wholesome atmosphere.  A motto that he lives by is "Don't take life so seriously, you won't make it out alive anyway."

Tommy Lynch, Assistant Director of Pride and Traditions
Tommy Lynch is a junior elementary education major and is a huge fan of Sycamore Athletics and also enjoys Reds Baseball and Colts Football.  He also works for Residential Life as an Academic Peer Advocate in Blumberg Hall and during the summer was an orientation leader.  Tommy is also a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.   My goal for Sycamore Pride & Traditions is to see “The Forest” become a loud and proud student section.  I bleed blue for Indiana State and I hope to see the student body become even more passionate.  GO SYCAMORES!!

Zach Watkins, Director of Governmental Affairs
Zach Watkins is a junior pre-law and Spanish dual major here at Indiana State and is a born and raised “Hautian.” He is involved in President’s Scholars Association, Pre-Law Association, and the University Honors Program. Zach enjoys traveling, looking at Reddit, watching Bravo, and speaking Spanish. He plans to give his office a concrete structure this year, including partnerships with civic-minded campus organizations. In addition, legal topics pertinent to student life will be a critical part of this position. His favorite part of Indiana State is how easy it is to get involved and the personal attention from professors. Go State!

Amber Kemp, Executive Assistant to the President
Amber Kemp is a business management major from Farmersburg, Indiana.  Her interests consist of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, playing basketball, and attending as many country music concerts as possible.  She is the Personnel Chair for the Chi Omega Sorority, Alumni Chair for the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, and she is a member of Sycamore Ambassadors.  Her personal goals consist of working for the Make-A-Wish Foundation after graduation.  Her goals for the office are that each executive member works to raise the spirit of Indiana State’s students.  She would like to see “The Forest” be successful in its first year.  Her favorite aspect about Indiana State is the size of the campus.  It is an amazing feeling to be able to recognize people while walking on campus.  Although it is easy to spot people that you know, the campus is big enough to where you have the opportunity to meet someone new every day.

Jake Asbury, Executive Assistant to the Vice President
Jacob is duel majoring in political science and philosophy with a minor in Civic Leadership. He is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and the vice president of the TOMS Campus Club. He is looking forward to graduating this December and becoming involved in environmental activism while pursuing his doctorate in Public Administration; with future goals of running for political office. Jacob’s favorite aspect of Indiana State is the recently-founded, Institute for Community Sustainability, which he hopes will set the university on a greener, more environmentally sustainable path. He hopes that he can help promote a greener campus through his position, by working closely this semester with the Institute for Community Sustainability and the ISU community.

Melanie Trammell, Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff
Melanie Trammell is a junior and will be graduating December 2013 with a degree in elementary education with reading and ELL license add-ons.  She will also be graduating with credits toward her Master’s degree from Indiana University for participating in the cultural immersions project and student teaching in England. She enjoys spending  her free time reading a good book, exercising, and hanging out with friends and family.  She is a huge sports fan, especially supporting Washington Nationals, Indianapolis Colts, and of course our very own ISU Sycamores.
As an Executive Assistant in the SGA office

she hopes to create a positive and welcoming environment. There are a lot of new and exciting projects in the works and she wishes to help with the development of these ideas as a member of the SGA team.. Melanie loves Indiana State because I not only chose the school, , but it chose me as well. It is large enough to experience the "college" atmosphere, but small enough to feel special and important to faculty and staff. She loves her time at college, but also look forward to the next stage of her life after graduation.
